ROBERTO RÉBORA


SEMBLANZA

Artista y editor mexicano con una trayectoria de más de treinta años, Roberto Rébora (11 de marzo de 1963, Guadalajara, Jalisco) es conocido por sus monotipias de La Niña Precoz y por sus pinturas principalmente elaboradas al temple-óleo, material preparado por él mismo a base de pigmentos naturales. Estéticamente hablando, es considerado como heredero de José Clemente Orozco por los críticos de arte Berta Taracena, Jorge Juanes, Erik Castillo y Daniel Garza Usabiaga, entre otros.

Destacado por lo enérgico de sus trazos y por su economía de medios, así como por sus conocimientos técnicos y la depuración de la materia pictórica que ha logrado, se le reconoce al contenido de sus imágenes una fuerte carga poética y reflexiva, con frecuencia de crítica social. Rébora ha experimentado y roto drásticamente con las características formales de su propio trabajo, lo cual se evidencia en culminaciones sucesivas tales como en la ya mencionada La Niña Precoz y en las series El Medio Inteligente, Suite Cojín, Poetisa, Futura, Multitudes, Monocromáticos, Azules y Rojos, Inmaterial y Media Star. A partir de Media Star, que desarrolló en 2013-2018, continúa su búsqueda del hombre inmerso en las redes de comunicación virtual, pero ahora también como ente social diluido en su éxodo a través de la tecnología del internet. Así, a finales de 2018 comenzó la serie Flujo Mundo, en la que se encuentra trabajando actualmente y de la cual realizó una exposición individual, homónima, en la Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana (Ciudad de México) en marzo-mayo de 2019. A finales de octubre de este mismo año inaugurará Flujo Mundo Oaxaca en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca.

Como editor, se ha formado en el saber gráfico, el diseño editorial, la bibliofilia y el culto a la poesía. Fundó en 1995 y dirige desde entonces Taller Ditoria, editorial literaria que se distingue por su nómina de autores cuya obra –principalmente poesía– es materializada en bellas ediciones tipográficas, manufacturadas, en libros con diseño único y de tirajes reducidos.

En 2011 le fue otorgado el Premio de la XV Bienal de Pintura Rufino Tamayo por Islas de mujeres (2010, de la serie Inmaterial).

Roberto Rébora is currently a memberof the Fonds National de la Culture et des Arts 2022-2023 Program Jeunes Créateurs. Mexico.

Bbeneficiary of the 2019-2022 issue of the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Fonca) as a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA) of his country. Previously, he participated in the 2014-2017, 2009-2012, 2004-2007 and 2000-2003 programs. Mexico.

It was part of the scholarship program Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes Jóvenes Creadores in the periods 1997-1998 and 1990-1991. Mexico.

His art in El Colegio Nacional

Architect Teodoro González de León (1926-2016), a member of the Colegio Nacional since 1989, asked the artist for a portrait. This was completed in 2004 and acquired by El Colegio Nacional in 2005. The portrait was unveiled at a ceremony in tribute to González de León, two years after his death, on December 12, 2018.
